City battalion to hold homecoming parades
AROUND 350 soldiers from The Royal Scots Borderers are to hold homecoming parades to thank families, friends and well-wishers for the support they received during their recent tour of Iraq.
The battalion, who returned to their permanent base in Edinburgh from a six-month operational tour of Basra in May, received many messages of support during their time in Iraq.
Captain Bob Stuart said: "This is our way of showing our appreciation to everyone who supported us while we were in Iraq. It was a demanding tour, the soldiers are happy to be home and looking forward to a well-deserved break."
Marching to the sound of the battalion's Pipes and Drums, the parades will take place in Musselburgh on Sunday June 8 at 2pm and in Edinburgh city centre on Monday June 9 at 11.45am.
During the tour the batallion raised over 3000 for the charity Erskine Edinburgh Home.
