City is on map for Cloud Atlas

A FILM adaption of the best-selling novel Cloud Atlas starring Tom Hanks and Halle Berry is set to feature scenes shot in Edinburgh.

Council chiefs been approached for permission to shoot a number of scenes in the Capital, including one in a dingy city centre back alley off Leith Street. It had previously been rumoured that the film, also starring Susan Sarandon and Jim Broadbent, was set to be partly filmed in Glasgow.

Cloud Atlas is adapted from the novel by author David Mitchell which follows six storylines, which range from scenes set in the South Pacific in the 19th century to a post-apocalyptic world.
