Cinema chain records blockbuster year
BLOCKBUSTER film hits such as Mamma Mia, Indiana Jones and Quantum of Solace have helped Cineworld record a 6.4 per cent box office increase.
Total revenues for the cinema chain were up by 4.4 per cent, with additional retail revenues up 2.2 per cent.
The company is looking forward to 2009, believing that many big-name releases – including Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince – will allow for continued growth.
The chain's share of the box office in the UK and Ireland dropped slightly last year from 23.7 per cent to 23.3 per cent.
