Church puts Hibs trophies on display
TWO historic Hibernian football trophies are set to go on display at a city church this weekend.
Awarded to Hibs three years after they were founded in 1875, the Edinburgh Football Association trophies were a symbol of recognition that the club had been accepted into the organisation. Hibs won the Edinburgh Cup three years running, both the main trophy and the reserve one, and were allowed to keep them as a result.
The cups have been housed at St Patrick's Church ever since, but with the Royal Mile building set to undergo a 2 million renovation, they will be returned to Hibs at their game against Aberdeen on November 15.
Fans will get a last chance to see the cups in their original home at St Patrick's on Saturday from 10am-2pm.
