Chip aroma is ironed out
EXPERTS think they have discovered what is behind the aroma of the chip shop – a mixture of butterscotch, onion and ironing boards.
Food scientists at Leeds University unravelled the smell of chips by breaking it down into components. The results showed chip aroma is made up of cocoa, butterscotch, onion, cheese, flowers, and ironing boards.
