Chief's relief as NHS project moves forward
THE chief executive of NHS Lothian has expressed his relief at progress on a new health centre for East Lothian.
James Barbour described the route to establish the 21 million Musselburgh Health Centre – due for completion in 2011 – as "tortuous".
"It is with considerable pleasure I now say this project is coming forward," Mr Barbour said at a recent board meeting in North Berwick. He also said progress was being made on a similar project in Midlothian.
Talking of the acceptance of the full business case for the Midlothian Community Hospital, he said: "It is a result of effective single system working that we have now achieved this long-awaited outcome."
