Chef helped by Alex Salmond jailed
AN ILLEGAL immigrant who First Minister Alex Salmond fought to keep in Scotland has been jailed for two years for running a cannabis farm.
The First Minister wrote to the Home Office last year asking for "favourable consideration" in the case of Chinese chef Zheng Bin, who worked at a restaurant near his constituency office.
But it later emerged that Bin was a fugitive who had skipped bail and was on the run from police and immigration authorities.
Opposition MSPs are calling for Mr Salmond to apologise for his poor judgment.
