Cheers to the 100,000th skier
THE CairnGorm Mountain resort has welcomed its 100,000th skier of a record-breaking year.
Mark Craig, from London, was presented with a bottle of 16-year-old Ptarmigan malt whisky by resort chief executive Ian Whitaker to mark the occasion yesterday. The whisky was laid down in 1995, the last year when there were as many skiers on the mountain.
Mr Craig said: "I am here for a week and have been cross-country skiing as well as downhill."
With cold weather set to continue for the foreseeable future, CairnGorm Mountain is expecting good skiing conditions to last until the Easter holiday break.
