I visited my local library recently and, as I entered, was invited to fill in a questionnaire giving my opinion on the service, the building and how it fulfilled my requirements as a library. Fine, no problem. Then the final question: "What is your sexual orientation?" "Gay? Straight? Bisexual?" Can anyone in our benighted council tell me how answering this impertinent question will improve our library services?
