Charles Kennedy plea on diabetic drivers
Former Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy has urged ministers to amend "utterly inconsistent" rules that ban British diabetics, but not those from other EU countries, driving HGVs on British roads.
Transport minister Theresa Villiers said the government would publish a consultation soon but added a change of road safety rules could not be "undertaken lightly".
