Charity seeks help to get to heart of nation's health problem

A HEART charity that talks to hundreds of school pupils across the Lothians each year is appealing for volunteers to assist with its latest project.

Heart Research UK has so far spoken to 1500 primary five students in a bid to plant the seeds of leading a healthy lifestyle early.

Encouraging youngsters to exercise, eat and drink healthily and not to smoke could help Scotland lose its label of the sick man of Europe.

The charity needs people from the Lothians to help present interactive talks around schools in the area.

The charity's lifestyle officer, Katharine Greathead, said:

"If you can spare just a couple of hours a month or more, are interested in health and talking to pupils, and would like to help us, we would love to hear from you."
