Charity raises £800 in fight for survival

A CHARITY supporting severely disabled children has raised over £800 as it fights for its life.

Children Inc, which offers support and activities to disabled youngsters and their families, is now struggling to stay afloat after its Big Lottery funding ended.

Parents and volunteers have embarked on a huge fundraising mission, with the latest event generating more than 800.

The charity night – a free performance by Capital band Infallible, and auctions – came as the organisation was turned down for funding by Children in Need.

One organiser, Jackie Paterson, said: "We need to keep Children Inc going and are going to have to double our fundraising efforts to achieve this. Last week alone we had three new families contacting us needing our support."
