Chance to join 'Oscars' event at parliament
MEMBERS of the public are being invited to apply for the chance to watch the Andrew Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy ceremony being held at the Scottish Parliament next month.
A public ballot will decide who gets the chance to be one of 20 members of the public joining the guests at the morning discussion workshops and afternoon medals ceremony in the main chamber on Tuesday, October 4.
The event is being held in Scotland for the first time and the recipients of the medals - regarded as Nobel prizes for philanthropy - include the Aga Khan, whose development network funds health, education, rural development and civil society projects worldwide; Sir Tom Farmer, one of Scotland's leading philanthropists; and representatives of the Cadbury, Hewlett and Packard families, whose foundations give millions to community projects.
