US rapper Nicki Minaj is to host MTV’s Europe Music Awards.

The Anaconda singer told her Twitter followers she is “so excited” to host the 2014 MTV EMA, which will broadcast live from the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on November 9.

Minaj, whose third studio album, The PinkPrint, will be released shortly, has been nominated in four categories including Best Female and Best Hip Hop.

She will also perform at the awards, which are celebrating their 20th anniversary.

Eminem was the big winner of the 2013 event in Amsterdam, with Katy Perry, One Direction and Justin Bieber also taking home trophies from the city’s Ziggo Dome.

The awards are being held in Glasgow for the first time, though the city hosted MTV Crashes Glasgow in 2010.

Voting in all categories for the 2014 MTV EMA is now open at mtvema.com and will close on November 8.
