Ennis crowned Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year

OLYMPIC champion Jessica Ennis has been crowned Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year, marking the latest high since the London Olympics.

After savouring the glory of winning a gold medal at a home Games last summer with her triumph in the heptathlon, Ennis has received glittering prizes, including being awarded the CBE at Buckingham Palace.

Among the other British sportsmen and women toasting success in Rio de Janeiro, was Andy Murray, who received the claiming the World Breakthrough of the Year prize, having followed up his own medal success at the Olympics by winning his first grand slam title at the US Open.

Sebastian Coe, the chairman of the organising committee for London 2012, received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
