Elton scores No 1 in the album charts

Sir Elton John has topped the charts with his first No 1 album in more than 20 years.

The veteran star, who has had six previous chart-topping albums, has taken the top spot with Good Morning To The Night, a collaboration with Australian duo Pnau, the Official UK Charts Company said.

The album, which sees Aussie pair Nick Littlemore and Peter Mayes re-imagine Sir Elton’s 1970s hits as dance anthems, is his first chart-topper since he released Very Best of Elton John in 1990.

His last No 1 single was when Tupac Shakur sampled his 1971 hit Indian Sunset for the chart topper Ghetto Gospel in 2005.

The collaboration replaces last week’s winner Surrey singer-songwriter Newton Faulkner, who crashed ten places with Write It On Your Skin.
