THE DUCHESS of Cambridge’s uncle has attracted criticism after revealing intimate details of the private life of his niece’s private life, including her relationship with Prince William.

• Uncle of Duchess of Cambridge accused of ‘selling out’ family after Hello! interview

• Gary Goldsmith, 47, reveals intimate details of Kate Middleton’s relationship with Prince William

Gary Goldsmith, 47, revealed the strain on Kate Middleton during her brief break-up with the Duke of Cambridge in 2007.

The interview was struck with Hello! magazine as Goldsmith also revealed details of Prince William’s attempt at DJing for the family, mud baths on Ibiza and how the Duchess of Cornwall had told Goldsmith not to worry about bad publicity he had attracted before last year’s royal wedding.

Royal commentators said the interview, the first time a close member of the Middleton family has spoken out about the Duchess of Cambridge, amounted to betrayal.

Former Buckingham Palace spokesman Dickie Arbiter said: “He has sold the family out.”

In the interview, conducted at Goldsmith’s £6 million villa in Ibiza, he claimed the house may have had a small part to play in the reuniting of William and Kate after their brief split six years ago.

Goldsmith describes the Duchess of Cambridge as being “very low, spending a huge amount of time on the phone, walking around the pool.”

Describing the villa, Goldsmith said: “It’s a very relaxing place and it has a very nice vibe and you can hear the sea at night. So in some small way I just hope that being there helped. This was June, and she and WIlliam were definitely back together in July, so the timing does suggest the holiday did play a part... Wouldn’t that be brilliant?”

He also revealed how the Duchess of Cornwall told him “not to think twice” about negative publicity attracted in the run-up to the royal wedding after a tabloid sting in which Goldsmith was filmed taking cocaine and offering advice to an undercover reporter on how to solicit Brazilian prostitutes.

Goldsmith told Hello! about the Duke of Cambridge’s brief stint as a DJ as the Middleton family swam in mud baths in Ibiza.
“[Prince William] said it was so much fun and so much to do there,” said Goldsmith.
