A CORONER has confirmed that the death of filmmaker Tony Scott, who leapt off a suspension bridge in Los Angeles earlier this year, was suicide.

• Preliminary results show injuries consistent with the presumed cause of death
A preliminary autopsy report concluded that the Top Gun director sustained blunt force injuries, and that he had drowned.
Scott, the brother of filmmaker Ridley, also had “therapeutic levels of anti-depressant Mirtazapine and prescription sleeping aid Lunesta in his system.
It had been rumoured that the director had been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.. A full report is expected in two weeks’ time.
Scott’s widow, Donna Wilson, refuted claims that her husband had cancer, calling the rumours “absolutely false”.
The English director was best known for a string of hit action films over several decades, including Beverley Hills Cop 2 and True Romance.
