TV star David Walliams tried to kill himself, he has revealed.

The Little Britain actor said he has made several attempts to take his life during his battle with depression.

He first tried to kill himself aged just 12, he says in his autobiography.

He revealed he tried to hang himself the first time after he was bullied during a Sea Scouts camp.

He took an overdose when he was 19, tried to hang himself again in 2003 and cut his throat and wrists with a kitchen knife in the same year.

In a diary entry at the time, he wrote: “Earlier I had come close to stepping in front of a train. I am in total despair.”

His book also reveals he spent time in The Priory being treated for depression.
