FORMER Dr Who assistant and Scottish actress Karen Gillan steps out in Glasgow city centre on the set of the film Not Another Happy Ending.

The independent romantic comedy stars Ms Gillan as a quirky writer and the French actor Stanley Weber as her publisher.

Written by David Solomons and directed by John Mackay, the film is about an author suffering from writers’ block and her publisher’s campaign to get her back to her best.

Shooting began last week on the movie, which is being financed by the British Film Company, Creative Scotland and BBC Scotland.

Other cast members include Lost’s Ian Cusick and Skins’ Freya Mavor.

The Scottish actress, who played the Time Lord’s sidekick Amy Pond in Dr Who, also appeared as 1960s model Jean Shrimpton in the BBC Four drama We’ll Take Manhattan.

Last year, Ms Gillan surprised arts students by making a guest appearance at their end-of-term performance in Inverness.
