Celebration of Scotland set to head Down Under
HE HAS already ruffled feathers with a controversial "rebranding" of New York's Tartan Week celebrations.
Now Alex Salmond is set to take the concept on tour to Australia and New Zealand.
Ministers are drawing up plans for a new event, modelled on Tartan Week, to help drum up interest in Scottish culture, heritage and business opportunities Down Under.
Culture minister Linda Fabiani said: "There is a growing recognition that the Scottish diaspora in Australia and New Zealand is huge and they are extremely important markets for Scotland.
"I'm particularly keen to strengthen links with these two countries, as we are already doing with the US and Canada."
