Caver 'serious'
A caver was still in a serious condition in hospital last night, two days after being pulled unconscious from a mine shaft.
Peter Ireson, 37, is understood to have been overcome by gas in the mine at the Wisp in the Newcraighall area of Edinburgh on Thursday night.
The Grampian Speleological Group member was rescued by firefighters and taken by ambulance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
Ireson and another group member had decided to explore the shaft, which is thought to be at least 35ft deep. Ireson got into difficulty as he was lowered down the shaft.
