Care watchdogs give hospice glowing report
A CITY hospice has been praised in a glowing report from the Care Commission.
St Columba's Hospice in Granton – one of only two in the Lothians – received marks of either "excellent" or "very good" in every subject.
The inspectors were so impressed by the facility that they could not find any areas to recommend for improvements.
Author Anne Dolan said: "All gave very positive views of the care and service they had received.
"There was evidence that comments from patients and relatives were acted upon and that practice was changed as a result.
"Every bedroom had a view of the grounds and access was gained from each bedroom to the outdoor space.
"Staff spoken with during the inspection felt that there was an excellent team approach, felt comfortable to challenge issues personally and that there were opportunities for them to further their career."
