Cardiff to fight city for rugby
CIVIC leaders in Cardiff have vowed to fight against losing one of rugby league's biggest events to Edinburgh.
The Evening News revealed earlier this month that the Super League's Magic Weekend, where all 12 clubs play one round of games at the same stadium, could be coming to Murrayfield next year.
The previous two Magic Weekend events have been held at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium, and Scottish Rugby Union chiefs are now in discussions to bring it to the city, which would be a massive boost for the pubs, restaurants and hotels.
However, political leaders in Cardiff have rallied to try to keep the family rugby event – which generates an estimated 10 million for the Welsh economy.
