Car crash claims the life of young model

AN ASPIRING male model has been killed in a car crash.

Matthew De Busk, 17, who recently travelled to London to appear in a professional modelling shoot, lost control of his Volkswagen Polo and careered into a tree near Aberlady, East Lothian, on Friday evening.

His passenger, also 17, was injured and taken to Edinburgh's Royal Infirmary.

The road between Gullane and Aberlady was closed for four hours as accident investigators examined the scene.

A police spokesman said: "We would be keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this collision."

There was a second fatal accident a few hours later, when sports student Danny McQueen, 16, died in a crash in Dumfries.

The black Honda Civic he was travelling in smashed into a tree at about 12:40am on Saturday.

He has been on a night out with four friends when the driver of the car lost control of the vehicle. Two of his friends were left fighting for their lives.

Accident investigators said they were amazed only one person had been killed.

The survivors were taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, and the road was closed for more than 12 hours.
