Capital musicians lined up for London Jazz Festival

LEADING Edinburgh-based jazz outfits are heading to one of the UK's top events - with the help of the Scottish Arts Council.

Tommy Smith and the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, the Colin Steele Quintet, jazz and swing vocalist Todd Gordon and guitarist Graeme Stephen will all be taking centre stage at the London Jazz Festival.

They will be appearing at the flagship event along with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Cassandra Wilson, Lee Konitz and Soweto Kinch.

Edinburgh-based Scottish traditional musicians Simon Thoumire and Aiden O'Rourke will also be performing at the festival as part of Cascade - a new creative collective made up of five leading British musicians known for their cross-genre work.

The project has been supported by funding from the Scottish Arts Council, PRS Foundation and Esmee Fairbairn Foundation.
