Skiing: Henderson must regroup after mistake

PAUL HENDERSON’S giant slalom may have ended almost as soon as it began, but the Edinburgh alpine skier insists his best is still to come at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck.

Henderson failed to record a time in yesterday’s morning session of the giant slalom after he slipped and missed a gate right at the start of the run.

That mistake ruled him out of overall contention before the afternoon’s second run had even got under way. And having failed to record a time in last Sunday’s Super Combined as well Henderson cut a frustrated figure ahead of the Games’ final alpine skiing event, the slalom tomorrow.

“The snow was very soft and I ended up coming off my inside ski right at the start of the run,” said Paul.
