Woman cut free from car after smash

A WOMAN had to be cut free from wreckage following a collision on a rural road in West Lothian.

Fire crews freed the casualty, who suffered a broken rib, after her car crashed into a white van on Linburn Road in Kirknewton.

A spokeswoman for the fire and rescue service said: “We cut the door off and a female was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment. The driver of the van was checked over but did not require medical attention.”
