Call to solve Seafield stench
AN influential community group has submitted a plea to the council to sort out the "Seafield stench" once and for all.
The Leith Links Residents Association made the appeal in the hope that politicians could resolve the smells coming from the controversial Seafield sewage works.
With the support of local councillors and other community groups, the association – which has campaigned on the matter for years – handed in a strongly-worded representation to be heard by councillors. In it they highlighted SNP manifesto promises to address the issue, and said any planned upgrade should include solutions to the smells leaking out in the Leith area.
It read: "We have grounds for suspecting our new Government are about to stitch Leithers up with a cheap improvement plan."
Leith councillor Gordon Munro added: "It is particularly pungent at the moment, and it is in the Scottish Government's gift to meet the residents' demands."
