Call for zoo review
A TEAM of inspectors called in to investigate conditions at the crisis-hit Glasgow Zoo yesterday called for an urgent review of its licence.
Local authority officials say they have uncovered countless licensing violations, including an infestation of rats in some of the animals’ cages.
Glasgow City Council Licensing Board has now been urged to conduct its own inquiry.
The move comes only weeks after former workers claimed that farm animals were slaughtered and fed to giant pythons to save money.
The animal rights campaigners, Advocates for Animals, also compiled a dossier claiming evidence of numerous fire hazards and poor animal housing.
