Call to oust PM 'bollocks' says Darling
CHANCELLOR Alistair Darling has described calls for a change in the party leadership as "bollocks" and urged Labour to "come out fighting" behind Gordon Brown.
In an angry retort to internal critics of the Prime Minister, Mr Darling issued a sharply-worded call for unity as Mr Brown was urged to quit by former Cabinet colleague Charles Clarke.
"I've really got no time for people who say 'if only there was someone else, it'd be all right'. That's bollocks. The real fight we've got is collectively. There is no point in thinking the day afterwards 'if only we'd said this, if only we'd done that'," Mr Darling said in a magazine interview.
"We need to come out fighting – and that burden rests on each and every one of us."
