Call for Scottish anthem debate
A HOLYROOD committee was today considering calls for a public debate on the national anthem.
First Minister Jack McConnell has said a debate could be timely but suggested politicians should be wary about leading it.
Central Scotland MSP Michael Matheson was today urging fellow members of the Enterprise and Culture Committee to initiate a debate that encourages Scots to make their views known.
The issue was raised during the Commonwealth Games where Scots Scotland The Brave was played at medal wins - while Flower of Scotland is played ahead of football and rugby games.
