Burnt living room sparks safety visits
A GRAPHIC reconstruction of a burnt-out living room has prompted nearly 500 Lothians residents to request fire safety home visits.
The exhibition went on show at various shopping centres across the region earlier this month as part of a fire awareness project.
As a result, organisers managed to get 450 people to sign up for free inspections.
Geoff Aird, community safety manager for Lothian and Borders Fire Service, said: "We were delighted by the level of interest shown by passing shoppers.
"Firefighters will now carry out these home fire safety visits as part of our community safety programme, and we'd encourage anyone who is seeking advice and guidance to contact us."
