Budget cuts play into SNP hands, say Tories
THE Scottish Conservatives accused Gordon Brown last night of playing into the hands of the Nationalists by demanding big budget cuts in Scotland.
Derek Brownlee, the Tories' finance spokesman, said the Prime Minister had given the SNP its campaign message for the next election by cutting 500 million from the Scottish budget in 2010-11.
But Andy Kerr, for Labour, argued the tax cuts had to be paid for and everybody, including the public sector, had to play a role.
