Brown 'in bid to rule Tories'
LOTHIANS MSP Gavin Brown was today tipped as a possible candidate to take over from Annabel Goldie as leader of the Scottish Tories.
In a surprise U-turn, Ms Goldie announced she would stand down in the autumn after the party's disappointing election results.
Deputy leader Murdo Fraser and West of Scotland MSP Jackson Carlaw are the favourites for the post, but one source said Mr Brown, 35, might stand as the "youth" candidate.
Tory Scottish Office Minister David Mundell today dismissed claims that Prime Minister David Cameron had forced Ms Goldie to quit as "absolutely incorrect".
