Bridge visitor centre plan proves a hit

PLANS for a visitor centre at the new Forth road bridge have been welcomed by nearby residents.

The building at South Queensferry will initially serve as an information point while the crossing is being built, then become a tourist centre for all the bridges after 2016.

Martin Gallagher, of Queensferry & District Community Council, said: "Many people associated with Queensferry and the bridges have long-held aspirations to establish a visitor centre for the many thousands of tourists who come here to view the bridges every year.

"Queensferry will be the only place in the world to boast three major bridges of three different designs from three consecutive centuries, performing three different functions. The contact and education centre to be built for the period of construction offers potential to create a world-class visitor attraction."
