Bridge lights to dim for Earth Hour
THE Forth Bridge is one of dozens of world landmarks that will plunge into darkness for an hour next month.
The iconic structure will join many other famous locations on the planet in switching off their lights to mark WWF's Earth Hour.
The others include the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Table Mountain in Cape Town, Sydney Opera House, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the CN Tower in Toronto and Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.
Some 377 cities in 74 countries have agreed to take part. They will all switch off their lights at 8:30pm on Saturday, 28 March, in a show of support for action on climate change.
Dr Richard Dixon, the director of WWF Scotland said he was delighted that Network Rail had agreed to involve the Forth Bridge, which is normally floodlit.
