Brass bands dig deep for mining museum festival
THE Scottish Mining Museum is to host this year's Brass in the Park event.
The weekend festival brings together the best brass band talent from around the country and will kick-off with a special opening ceremony at Newbattle High School on Friday, September 10.
The opening concert will be followed by a full programme of competitions, suitable for brass band groups and solo players of all ages, running throughout Saturday and Sunday at the Scottish Mining Museum in Newtongrange.
Rowan Brown, director of the Scottish Mining Museum, said: "We are delighted to welcome competitors and supporters. In decades gone by, many miners enjoyed being part of brass bands and the upcoming festival will echo this tradition."
