Kay tells us, in this smart, witty book, that you can't plan things. People who live according to models and strict rules often come unstuck. You might believe that the longer you wait at a bus stop, the more likely it is your bus will arrive soon. This is true only up to a point. After that point, the bus is less likely to arrive. Or think of this: communists tried to plan everything; and look what happened to them.
