Leslie’s World Open bid halted by on-song Thai cueman

Midlothian snooker professional Michael Leslie lost 5-1 to Thailand’s Thepchaiya 
Un-Nooh in the second round of the Haikou World Open qualifiers at the Sheffield Snooker Academy yesterday. The Thai player was in sizzling form, making a series of sizeable contributions throughout the match.

Breaks of 41, 73, 35 and 116 allowed Un-nooh to open up a 3-0 lead before Leslie responded with runs of 53 and 33 in the fourth to close the gap to two frames. However, Un-Nooh rolled in further breaks of 82 and 52 to wrap up a 5-1 victory.

Perth’s Scott Donaldson lost 5-3 in an all-Scottish encounter against Glasgow’s Anthony McGill, who was due to play play English teenager Jack Lisowski in the last 64 earlier today. Glasgow’s Alan McManus is also through to the last 64 after beating Martin O’Donnell and was due to meet Jamie Jones today.
