Bond star Moore to host TV news quiz

FORMER James Bond star Roger Moore is to take a turn in the hot seat as a guest host on Have I Got News For You.

The 85-year-old will chair the BBC1 show for the first time on 23 November, as the show
celebrates ten years of guest
presenters.

He joins regular panellists Ian Hislop and Paul Merton, as well as guest panellists Marcus Brigstocke and journalist Rachel Johnson – sister of London Mayor Boris, who is a former host of the show.

Speaking of his debut, Sir Roger said: “I’m really looking forward to appearing on one of my favourite shows and just hope Ian and Paul will treat this old English actor gently.”

“If not, I’ll press the button which releases their chairs into a piranha-filled pool below and cackle wildly like Ernst
Stavro Blofeld.”

Sir Roger starred in seven Bond movies and his HIGNFY appearance has been announced as the latest 007 movie Skyfall dominates the UK box office, following its world premiere last week.

He enjoyed the longest ever stint as James Bond in the film franchise, which turned 50 this year.

His first appearance as the British spy, originally created by Ian Fleming, was in the film Live and Let Die in 1973 when he was 45.

Moore was 58 when he retired from playing Bond. Before taking on the famous role, he had appeared as detective Simon Templar in television series The Saint.
