Bomb kills 33 near Afghan border

A SUICIDE car-bomber killed 33 people in north-west Pakistan yesterday in an explosion that brought down shops where people were stocking up before a religious holiday.

The bomb went off on a main road near the city of Kohat, a garrison town near the lawless Afghan border area, a major sanctuary for militants battling in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
