POLICE in Dundee have launched an investigation after the sudden death of a woman in the city centre.

The woman’s body was found at about 23:00 on Thursday at the top of a flight of stairs behind commercial premises in the Nethergate.

The area has been cordoned off by police with scenes of crime officers working at the location on Friday morning.

It is understood that the woman is from Fife.

A Tayside Division spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland attended at Nethergate, Dundee at 22:55 on Thursday 2 June, following the sudden death of 34 year old woman.

“Enquiries are at an early stage and her death is being treated as unexplained.”
