Body found in search for missing oil rig man
A BODY was found today during the search for a man who disappeared from a North Sea oil rig.
A major search was launched after a man was reported missing from the Shell-operated Brent Delta platform 120 miles north east of Shetland at around 11.30am.
Three helicopters were involved in the search, with cover being provided by a Nimrod from RAF Kinloss. A dive boat was co-ordinating a surface operation.
Aberdeen Coastguard confirmed that a body had been located by an underwater remotely-operated vehicle.
A Shell spokeswoman earlier said that searches of the platform and the surrounding waters were being carried out.
