Blood donor centre moves to new home
EDINBURGH'S blood donation centre is moving to a temporary home while its Lauriston Place headquarters is refurbished.
Donors will attend the Merchant's Hall at 22 Hanover Street between March 31 and April 19 while the work is going on.
The opening hours will be 10am-4pm on Mondays and Fridays, and 12pm-7.30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. It will also be open between 10am-1pm on Saturdays.
Health chiefs last year announced plans to permanently move the donation centre to a site on George Street in a bid to attract more office workers and reverse a drop in the number of donors in Edinburgh by ten per cent in four years.
However, the idea was dropped amid fears regular donors would be put off by the upheaval.
