Birthday bash for Mandela
NELSON MANDELA'S 90th birthday will be celebrated during an event in Midlothian.
A lecture on the history of South Africa is being held at Dalkeith Library on Friday, July 18 – the former politician's birthday.
The lecture is being given by Dr Daryl Balia, a Methodist minister from South Africa who worked for Mr Mandela's government and currently lives in Edinburgh.
Mr Mandela was made an Honorary Freeman of Midlothian in 1985, but could not collect his award until 1993 due to restrictions placed on him by the South African government.
