Bird fans get twitchy over zoo lectures
EDINBURGH Zoo is hoping visitors will flock to a series of talks being held to mark World Migratory Bird Day this weekend.
The zoo is one of many organisations around the world taking part in the two-day awareness campaign, being held for the third consecutive year tomorrow and on Sunday. Edinburgh Zoo has more than 400 birds with approximately 75 per cent endangered or in managed breeding programmes.
Over the weekend, experts will give a series of talks about the birds and the problems they face, and there will also be a discussion at the Penguin Parade.
Colin Oulton, head of birds at Edinburgh Zoo said: "We would encourage any bird enthusiasts to fly by this weekend to learn more."
