Billy Connolly's seal skin suit heading for city museum

COMEDIAN Billy Connolly needed some way of keeping warm during his televised ten-week epic journey through the Arctic Circle – and he found it in the shape of a sealskin suit, made to measure by an Inuit seamstress.

Now the suit, which Connolly will be seen wearing in tonight's episode, is to go on display at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.

The museum already has an extensive Arctic collection. A spokeswoman said: "This is a very significant addition to the national collections, being an example of what is a diminishing art form practiced by a small number of highly-skilled seamstresses in the 21st century."
