LIGHT up the New Year

Set in West Princes Street Gardens, framed by the brilliant backdrop and fairytale skyline of Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile, the Concert in the Gardens is the jewel in the crown of Edinburgh's Hogmanay. This year's celebrations will be opened by Scottish singer-songwriter Paolo Nutini as he kicks off the proceedings at the new earlier time of 9pm, before breakthrough band of the year Friendly Fires take to the stage. And with the legendary Groove Armada as this year's headline act, Edinburgh's partygoers are sure to bring in the New Year in style!

Sometimes listed as one of the 100 things to do before you die, Edinburgh's Hogmanay Street Party is set to be the party of the year, with four stages, 100,000 people and spectacular fireworks!

This year's amazing line up includes Glasvegas, Attic Lights and The Complete Stone Roses, and DJ sets from Hot Chip and The Hoosiers.

Held in East Princes Street Gardens at the all-new Spiegeltent, Glayva's Ceilidh in the Gardens will provide the ultimate taste of Scotland as revellers cheer and jig away the remaining hours of 2008 under the stars. The very best ceilidh bands will be keeping dancers on their toes, including banjo bluegrass duo Blueflint followed by The Jimi Shandrix Experience and Hugh MacDiarmid's Haircut, and whipping up a ceilidh storm to see in the New Year is the foremost Scottish ceilidh dance band The Occasionals.

New for 2008/09 and located in the Mound Precinct, Boogie Wonderland is set to be the funkiest gig in town and will give partygoers the perfect chance to dust off those platforms and get dressed up to the nines. Join your special host, DJ Boogie (Forth One) in his very own disco wonderland, presenting a 70s soundtrack provided by tribute acts: ABBA Arrival, Ultimate Earth, Wind & Fire, and The Soul Kings, for what promises to be a night full of glamour, glitter, disco balls and more moves than Travolta could handle.

And returning to Edinburgh after its success at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Silent Disco is back for one night only!
