Best of Royal Zoological Society of Scotland sites
WARDEN FOR A DAY, Highland Wildlife Park, Kingussie : Anyone over 18 can get up close to the animals in the park, helping to feed, train and clean them out. Starting at 8:30am, you will spend the day shadowing the park's regular keepers on their rounds.
BUDONGO TRAIL, Edinburgh Zoo: World-class chimpanzee enclosure, linking the excitement of seeing chimps with conservation, science, education and research. Learn the links and differences between us and these endangered creatures by watching them swing through life in this naturalistic habitat. This enclosure includes huge indoor-outdoor environment that can house up to 40 chimps and outdoor climbing and vegetation area.
RAINBOW LANDINGS, Edinburgh Zoo: New, exciting walk-through rainbow lorikeet exhibit, the largest of its kind in Europe. It is home to up to 50 beautiful birds. Nectar is available for purchase so you can have these inquisitive, colourful birds perch on you to have a drink. It is also home to endangered birds such as the blue-faced honeyeater and the long-nosed potoroo, a small marsupial native to Australia.
ANIMAL ANTICS, Edinburgh Zoo: Watch the animals showcasing their prodigious natural abilities, experience the thrill of birds flying low over your head and see the animals doing gravity-defying balancing acts.
HILLTOP SAFARI, Edinburgh Zoo: Starts near the sea lions, and makes its way to the very top of the hill, where you can walk back down or continue the round trip. The driver gives a running commentary, sharing animal stories and information. Takes about 30 minutes.
